Amsterdam 1961. Thomas (9 years old) is, together with his sister and mother, being suppressed by his strictly religious father. But thanks to his great imagination, Thomas finds ways to escape from this oppressive reality.

In the end, with the help of his friend ‘Jesus’ and his liberal-minded neighbor Mrs Van Amersfoort, he even dares to rebel against his father.

Happiness starts with not being afraid anymore.
